Biography

Graduated in Civil Engineering (Escuela especial de ICCP,1960).

Lecturer at the School of Civil Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain): since 1968 Lecturer; Associate Professor 1987-1994; Interim Lecturer 1994-1995;  Professor 1995-2000; University Professor 2000-2007; Professor Emeritus since 2008.

1958-1962 Researcher at the Spanish Instituto Eduardo Torroja de la Construcción y del Cemento: reinforced concrete, concrete pavement, soil stabilisation.
1962-1964 Collaborating Engineer on site at the Spanish Provincial highway administration, Madrid. Las Rozas-Villalba highway.
1964-1966 Collaborating Engineer at the Materials division of the Spanish Directorate-General of Roads. Specifications service.
1964-1984 Related to motor racing. Permanent circuits project at Jarama (1964) and Jerez (1983); project manager at the first circuit. Member of the Spanish automobile federation (1967-1981), and Chairman (1981-1984).
1966-1985 Active service at the Spanish Provincial highway administration, later called Research and support centre of Madrid. Numerous and important projects in Madrid and the central Spanish provinces.
1985-1989 Head the technological area at the Spanish Directorate-General of Roads. Regulations.
1985-1990 Lead engineer of the Andalucía Highway, 1st sector (Madrid-Bailén): Coordination, 11 Projects, 2 Project managements.
1989-1991 Deputy Director of technology and projects at the Spanish Directorate-General of Roads. Regulations, project supervision. Reversible roadway project at the A-6 highway.
1991-1992 Technical advisor International Relationships of the Spanish Directorate-General of Roads. 
1992-1997 Private sector: the EUROCONSULT Group. Project consultancy (among others, closure of the northern part of the M-40 highway with overlapping roadways) and background  research, quality control and auscultation.
1997-2007 Fulltime university dedication. Participation in the tunneling of the M-30 highway (layout and signalling).
1998 Professor, ETS-ICCP (School of Civil Engineering), Madrid.
2000 University Professor, ETS-ICCP (School of Civil Engineering), Madrid.
2007 Retirement. Professor Emeritus, Polytechnic University of Madrid.

Numerous articles and books published on professional issues, and a great number of papers and reports at national and international congresses.
